This oil is safe, chemically inert, nonflammable, and is oxygen and chlorine compatible. It has good lubricity, high thermal stability, and low compressibility.
The thickener used in this grease is a very fine silica powder. Silica is a commonly requested grease thickener, but its chemical stability is more limited than the PCTFE oil. Silica-thickened greases can be prone to attack by chemicals active toward silica, such as alkalis, hydrofluoric acid, and fluorinating agents. Compatibility of silica-thickened greases should be confirmed before being used in applications in contact with these chemicals.
Typical applications for this grease include valve lubrication and seals.
